A Raisin In The Sun

In literature, as in life, a character may search for a better way of life. One of those characters from "A Raisin In The Sun" is Ruth, who is searching for the better way of life by trying to let Mama use the check well, so her family can all be satisfied and I think she is sort of sticking the family together when they fall apart. Also, in the book, it shows that Ruth is trying not to make any conflicts between her and Walter, her husband. It shows that because you can see that Ruth never shouts back and is trying to stay calm and shows sympathy when Walter and his mother disagree with each other and Ruth tries to follow Walter to get a drink. I think Ruth wants to gain happiness for her family and her husband. She tries to attempt to bring a change by making everyone at home even though it's not the best and worries for the family before herself.

Another character who searches for a better way of life is Benetha, who is searching for the better life by looking for her true self. It shows this when Benetha meets up with her friend Asagai, and discuss African culture. I think Benetha hopes to gain Asagai's friendship again and I also think that it may make it easier for her to find her true self by knowing African culture better. I am sure that Benetha attempts to make a change by, trying to open her sensitive side to more people and also be able to get to know her true self more. And to help out her family more and not think about money, money, money. It shows that she doesnt care about money wheb she isnt interested in her rich boyfriend, George.
